The Flowers Grew Alas

/Livi

When I wrote this poem, I really loved it. I want to thank nanima, who enjoyed and reviewed the original despite its roughness. I’ve tried to give it a better sense of structure and rhythm.

Oddly, this poem was inspired by Wizard’s First Rule by Terry Goodkind.

paperthin

Your foot rests in its shoe,
Sitting by your chair
Like a faithful dog.
Your foot slides in its shoe,
And I tumble down,
Looking at you
Like a kicked puppy.
You apologize even
As you laugh at my expression.
I just stare,
My face becoming mean
Like a feral stray.
Finally I nod,
Standing up and moving on.

My forgiveness is paperthin,
Just like your apology.
