Silent Hill

Sometimes I see that town in my dreams, Silent Hill. My wife and I went to vacation there on our honeymoon, before she became ill. She thought the town was absolutely beautiful, an oasis in a world of troubles. Upon first speculation, I began to think Silent Hill was an eerie place. I found out, years later, that my belief was not to far off of the truth. Susan, my wife, died two years ago from heart cancer. She was in the critical stages of her disease for a month, until she finally passed away. For those two years I was a wreck; I drank, I did drugs, and I began thinking of suicide. I even thought it was entirely my fault that she had crossed over, and I could not bare the fact that she died from the disease. It was my fault, no one else’s. Exactly two years from the time of Susan’s death I received a letter, from Susan. This couldn’t be true, she has been dead for years, how in the hell could she send me a letter? The letter told me to go to Silent Hill, so to solve this enigma; I traveled to the sinister town. My name is Killian Douglas, and this is the story of Silent Hill.

The day I arrived in Silent Hill was a foggy one. I could barely see two yards ahead of myself. Immediately I headed for the place the letter told me to go, our spot where we spent our honeymoon together, the hotel. As I walked inside I began to hear music, like that of a music box. It was coming from upstairs, where I also heard a sound of metal dragging against metal. No one is in the hotel, as I stand before the stairs where I can hear the choir of music and sounds of hell. Climbing up the stairs, I noticed that the sound of metal ceased as I advanced up. At the top of the stairs, the sound was completely vanished. Was this all a hoax? Is someone trying to frighten me? Maybe I am trying to reveal a fallacious secret. I continued anyway, with the hope my wife was still alive. Upon entering another room, I could see two people, one on the floor, and the other standing over the fallen entity. My eyes must have been under a spell of deception, but the one on the floor was Susan, her body at least. The man that stood over her had a strange pyramid shaped helmet over his head, and a giant sword in his hand. My eyes flared up like pillars of fire, rising with my hatred for this creature. The entity approached me, his sword dragging the ground, causing the noise I heard before. I began to run at him, but he swung his sword at a mighty rate, as if the sword was a twig, causing me to fall on my back. He stared down at me, and I at him. He told me it is not my fault, then he raised his sword over his helmeted head, and he lowered down towards my torso. It struck me right in the heart, and I awoke from my nightmare.

I realized it then, that I had to go to that town, Silent Hill. I must go there to finally say goodbye to Susan, and to get on with my life. That embodiment of my accusations, the helmeted creature, made me come to grips with the truth. I did not kill my wife, it was not my fault she was sick. I got in my car and began my long trip to that town of my dreams. Goodbye Susan, goodbye Silent Hill.
