She glances down at the ground

A flicker of movement upwards

The eye is caught on the

yellow at her feet.

Perfection of flower

clutching to the earth

rooted

like the eyes

the sky must be blue, né?

why don’t you look up

because there’s nothing good here

Mantra of hate begins again

flows around a circle

logic is cast aside

to the sharks that prey the waters of the mind.

They see it

they see it coming

but they are forbidden to speak

like the others

clamoring for attention

love

hope

life

light

awash in dark waters

Cannot break through

cannot breathe

choked

drowned in the murky

half-formed ideas.

Bring those thoughts out

into the light

what do you see?
