A/N Ah, sequels…they never are as good as the original are they? However, I'll try to make this sequel to Take My Fucking Hand better and with less corny band references (note I said try!) Also, I'll see if I can't get these chapters out quicker this time around. With summer right around the corner and my research paper just about finished and Flavor of Love has run its course I really have no excuses. Well, we'll see.
So I hope you enjoy the follow up on the Jesse/Emily romance. Let's see how good of a couple they turn out to be. We still have the issue of the unsupportive band, Luke (oh, you thought he was gone for good?), Jesse's drinking and Jen (her too!). Oh, goodness, we've got quite a few chapters ahead of us, don't we? Even I don't know how it'll play out! Well, here we go!
As Lovers Go
As the song ended Jesse and Emily broke apart grinning at each other.
"Still wish you were dancing with Conor?" Jesse asked teasingly.
Emily smiled. "No."
"This next song is a waltz, for those two down there. So everyone, grab the one you love the most and dance." Conor said and after a swig of beer he leaned into the mic, "On a string…on a string…"
"Do you remember the first day we met?" Emily asked.
"Oh god, how could I forget?" Jesse responded.
"Yeah, you're right, that was a bad day. I was so different then. You know we had never met, I would've have stayed like that forever." Emily smiled.
"Oh, goodness. Good thing I was in your life." He laughed.
"Do you have to joke about everything?" Emily asked. "I'm not kidding, you're so important to me. Those weeks that we weren't talking were the most miserable I've ever felt. You're the best friend I've ever had."
Jesse smiled. "Just friend?"
Emily grinned, "Not a bad kisser either."
"Too bad we just found out, huh? That was a lot of wasted quizzing on the Kreb's Cycle." Jesse said.
Emily smiled, "Well, I knew that you would be a good kisser the second time
I met you."
"Yup," Emily laughed, "I thought that you'd make some riot girl very happy. You have very nice lips."
"So, that's why you asked me if I had myself a riot girl yet?" Jesse asked.
"Yeah, not all mysteries need Scooby Doo." Emily said sarcastically. "Here's one that needs solving though. Why were you so nice to me? Why'd you teach me about music and everything? Why'd you take me out of school after I broke up with Luke? Why did you do the million wonderful things you did for me?"
Jesse sighed, "I have a confession to make."
"Oh god, you felt sorry for me? You did all that stuff because you felt sorry for me? Oh, no and that kiss? A pity kiss? Because it sure didn't feel like a pity-"
Jesse grabbed her and kissed her again, this time deeper and longer.
"Kiss." Emily finished in a whisper.
"It wasn't a pity kiss, don't be ridiculous." Jesse said roughly, running a hand through his hair.
"Then what?" Emily asked.
"I did all that stuff because I was in love with you. I've been in love with you since the second time I saw you." Jesse said desperately.
"Aren't you supposed to say the first?" Emily teased.
"Oh, come on Em, are you really going to play that game?" Jesse asked.
Emily smiled, "No, I'm sorry. Jesse, I love you too."
Jesse smiled, "Really?"
"Really." Emily replied.
Jesse leaned in and was about to kiss her again when he felt a poke in his back. He turned around to see a security guard holding a flashlight.
"Listen, you two have got to sit down. You've become a fire hazard." He said.
"Oh, alright." Jesse said sounding annoyed.
"Sorry," Emily said, embarrassed.
Jesse took her hand and they walked back to their seats.
"I knew it!" Kara exclaimed as they had barely sat down.
"Did you?" Jesse asked.
"Of course I knew. You were so in love with her. It was so obvious."
"It wasn't that obvious." Jesse protested.
"Oh, please. You were mooning around humming Dashboard Confessional. I assumed it wasn't about Jen." Kara said.
"You did?" Emily asked.
Jesse coughed, "Noooo…she's, uh, she's just exaggerating."
"I am not!" Kara insisted. "You should have seen him. It was kind of pathetic, he watched those dumb high school romance movies –"
"Uh, could you please shut up, Kara?" Jesse said embarrassed.
"Could you all please shut up? We're trying to enjoy the show." The man sitting behind them asked.
"Sorry." They replied.
"You've been pining for me." Emily whispered in his ear.
"I have not." Jesse replied sulkily.
"Don't try to take it back now. Kara's stripped you of all of your manhood. Now you're revealed for the sentimental wuss you really are. I don't know if I like it, Jesse. It was after all your rugged masculinity that first attracted me to you."
"Could you please shut up? I'm trying to enjoy the show." Jesse replied taking her hand and kissing her on the cheek he whispered in her ear, "And, you're right, I did pine for you."
A/N: How'd you like it? Should I keep going with the whole sequel thing or just quit while I'm ahead? It's up to your reviews.
