One Moment of Pride

I have one moment

It is right at my fingertips, a sweet offering.

A simple thing, to reach out and take it, I know the reward.

All eyes on me, expectation drawn in,

The center of the circle.

There is a moment of fear, will it all turn out right?

Then I take the stand.

I have one moment.

It is all that I wanted, an instant of pride.

My moment to indulge and glow in the light.

Then it is gone and I am left empty,

It darts away without a care

A torment of taunting

I can reach out again but am unsure of the cost.

Is one moment equal to the possible loss?
