Poetry is written:
Among the stars
On great stone walls
In a child’s smile
Or a mournful song
On passing ships
On a lover’s face
In one more kiss
In a long embrace
In the sky, blood red
With the sun’s last light
At the mountains’ peaks
In the eagle’s flight
In ribbons and chocolate
In a wicked grin
On a helping hand
And the joys of our sin
On cardboard houses
At the heart of the slums
The bite of a needle
And the barrel of a gun
In frost on the window
Or a drop of rain
On an artist’s lips
In the poet’s veins
In bittersweet love
In crime and in art
For good or for naught
In our stories
In our hearts
