cry crystal tears

my body bruises like a waterfall

and crumbles like cherry cake

it’s fragile as a shard of glass

and shatters with every step i take

-

my back is an arched diamond

my eyes cry crystal tears

my mouth bleeds an incandescent ruby

as i remember the forgotten years

-

as the memories keep falling down

they weigh heavily upon my back

then the final memory is added

and my diamond spine starts to crack

-

it splinters into a thousand fragments

scattering almost everywhere

i’ve lost nine hundred parts of my soul

glittering pieces slipped here and there

-

shattered, my soul slid into nothing

the perfect glass flipped away

haunting memories crowd this empty shell

the brutal rememberings are here to stay

-

so what other choice do i have

when being pounded down with remembered fears

the only way i know i can see

is to cry crystal tears
