chronology of an imagined love affair
(acceleration)

You let me kiss you, let me say I loved you, and then
with sheepish smile said: “I'm sorry.” But never meant
to hurt a soul, no, less a friend and I-- never meant to fall in love.
But you were breathing fast and I was happy,
my head on your chest and holding your hand,
knowing you and loving you, the
deep blue eyes and dark complexion;
smelling you and feeling you, listening to your heart
--a sad obsession--
hearing “sorry” saying “love”, yes,
Love you to the moon and back.
