Phoenix

Buchenwald’s gates flew open,
And the crowd loudly cheered.
The tanks rolled into my view,
And filled my eyes with tears.

No more of the dirt and grime,
No more soldiers on our backs,
No more fear and no more pain,
We were free at last.

Never to forget this dismal hell,
I will always remember.
How I have lost my life in here,
And the bitterness of winter.

Even though my soul has died,
Our freedom is in sight,
Slowly, I am brought back to life,
A phoenix rising in the night.

A mirror reflects my suffering,
A corpse stares back at me.
But I’m still alive, I have hope,
I am now free.

A/N: Another lame poem that came into my head during third period. This is happier than my last one. Yay. Tell me what you think about it and if I should write more poems like this.

A note to you guys who loved my first poem. The soldier whistling the Blue Danube is actually Auschwitz’s own Todesengel (Angel of Death), Dr. Josef Mengele. I saw the movie Into the Ashes and found out that he was rather particular with the tune Blue Danube.

Oh yeah, a note to all the so-called "Holocaust revisionists," to put it simply, you all suck. Sorry if I offended some people, I just think Holocaust revisionism/denial is stupid. That is all.
