Who Am I?

---

from an off-white building in midtown

with minarets spiraling from the roof—

and trespassing through lawns

to swing on foreign swings

and to jump and balance across rocks

in sylvan creeks.

---

a strange mix of mediation and contradiction—

apathetic and passionate all at once,

a realistic dreamer and an optimistic cynic.

---

a chronic daydreamer,

I am the books I read

and used to read—

and I am what I write.

and friendships made in an unlikely place—

sharing creativity and stories

and eighty-seven other things.

---

I am what my childhood made me—

and what dreams of the future promise to become.

from reading on the branches of backyard trees—

and an off-white building in midtown

with minarets spiraling from the roof.
