I was thinking of you

How I love to run my fingers through your hair

How I long to hold you in my arms

While feeling your heartbeat beneath your breast

As I lay my head as close to it as I can

Just to hear it beat.

-

I was just remembering what I’ve done with you

How many times I’ve smiled with you

And heard your laugh join with mine

As we defied society together,

Grinning all the while.

-

I remember how my heart has soared when I’m with you

And how your hand fits so perfectly in mine

And I suddenly wish you were here with me

So I could be near you

Simply with you

Smiling until my mouth hurts.

-

But the empty space remains beside me

As my fingers drift across the keyboard

The sound of my typing filling the eerily-silent room

As I wait to be with you again.
