A blast of flame erupts from the dragon’s throat, as Romnus, the pegasus dashes to the side to avoid the scalding blaze. Imber’s reptilian form rises above the ground, reeking of pure, untamed prowess. He let a ferocious roar escape his mighty jaws, allowing the very Earth to shake and quiver beneath the beasts’ feet. Romnus, unshaken by the tremendous snarl stepped backwards. Rearing up on his hind legs to stockpile strength, the stallion swiftly charges at the dragon, releasing a cry as he rushes towards the enemy, a silver horn bared on his forehead. Nothing more than a blur of hoary whiteness, Romnus races even faster at Imber, who at the last moment, takes to the air, dodging the unicorn’s assault.

A leap and a few intense beats from his golden wings, the dragon was air-bound and soaring higher into the skies. Imber had no intention of retreating-- he only wanted to take the battle to the firmament, where his clash with the stallion would harm no others. Orange scales sparkled like gold in the warm sun’s rays, as Imber climbed higher through the clouds, leading the pegasus to a struggle in their own element.

Romnus neighs fiercely, apparently irritated at Imber’s swift withdrawal. He spreads his feathery, angel-like wings and takes off with a small bound of his hind legs. The white stallion tosses his light mane and tail, ascending towards the mist in the sky, where the mountains towered over all else. He spied the well-built dragon ahead of him and beats his wings faster to increase his velocity.

Realizing that Romnus was pursuing him closely, Imber accelerated, as well, wanting to keep a respectable distance until he reached his destination. He soared, wings out-stretched upon countless air currents, his nostrils flaring for oxygen, while a long, spiked tail trailed behind him. Azure eyes scanned the horizons, gleaming as the immense peaks loomed ahead. That was his destination. The giant reptile dashed into the mists with the stallion shadowing him, determined to catch his fleet opponent. Despite his massive bulk, the dragon maneuvered agilely among the pointed crags, decreasing Romnus’ fierce speed severely, as the pegasus had no idea where to turn. The mist was no help either-- a dragon’s vision is much clearer than a unicorn’s.

The noble pegasus was astray. Imber was no where to be found and all was silent, except the beating of Romnus’ strong wings. He arched his majestic neck, endeavoring to see around him, but all in vain. With a heavy blow, Imber rammed his rock-solid skull into the pegasus’ side, extracting a surprised cry from Romnus. Though caught off guard, the stallion was only slightly fazed and quickly regained his balance, ascending to a nearby crag. Here, Romnus waited for his adversary to show his true face.

Imber, who realized what the steed was plotting, voluntarily joined the face-off. He beat his reptilian wings, allowing him to settle across the calm pegasus, whose dark eyes only blinked softly to acknowledge the great beast’s presence. Silence. The two impressive creatures of myth stared intently at each other, barely even breathing. The final battle between the lithe pegasus and regal dragon has begun.
