Car Accident

I open my eyes
and see only pain.
My left arm lie limp,
twisted and broken.
The strong smell of fuel
prominent in the wreckage.
Loud noises and screams
as I look around
through the shattered glass.
I unbuckle the belt
that holds me to the
crumpled iron that
surrounds me,
only to see red.

A crimson piece of
glistening metal
embedded deep in
my bleeding torso.
I look up and see
beyond the shattered
windshield before me...
A worried face there.
Her mouth moves to speak,
yet I cannot hear...
The body goes numb...
The world starts spinning
as all fades away...

Only to come back
cold on my bed.
I slowly get up...
I walk out the door...
I get in my car
and then head to school.
