Confusion

Glittering (shards of) big eyes,

painted lips and those

undefined cheekbones

(she's saving for the knife)

--

Skin stretched over

Scattered, fragile scaffolding

(sharpened, starving bones)

--

Holding -

Hope, fear, dreams, and love (faded, broken

never there at all) but

lies come easier than kisses,

she thinks and

--

Boredom stutters in a small town

girl

and when once again she

(gives in)

feel free to lose yourself in the

whirl of

mixed drinks, shared boys and halved

cigarettes
