The room was almost pitch black beside the little light fraying out of the dying light hanging above. The light reflected off of the shining knife griped in the man’s hand. It was dull and colored in crimson. The man’s blues eyes glowed in the dark room as if they where their own lights. His deep stare glazed across the cold empty room, eyes that looked so deep that they ended in the pits of hell.

The sound of police cars blazing down the street creped into the room, the man glanced around in the dark room only being able to see figure of the objects laying in place. His eyes stopped at the window, the dull moon light shined through the white curtains sprinkling light across the floor.

Tires screeching, hands tight on the wheel, lights flashing, sirens howling, radio blaring. Officers Jim night on the job and already a murder he thought to himself as his tires smoked as his car slid into passion in font of the apartment complex with the other cops. His captain stood their yelling though a speaker phone as the other cops hid behind their cop cars with guns armed and ready. “Frank, Jim, and Alex go on in take in this low life” Jim’s captain said though his thick gray mustache.

Sliding the window open carefully the man slipped out of the apartment. “Slam!” he heard the apartment’s front door slam onto the ground. Looking around he grabbed onto the escape ladder, he was 15 floors in the air and the building was surrounded. “Tap, tap, tap…” the cops started to get closer. Rushing up the ladder the man dropped his knife.

“Clink” Jim looked around trying to look for where the sound came from. Looking into the window he saw a man’s legs climbing up the ladder. “He is heading for the roof, you guys take the stairs I follow him on the ladder” Jim yelled as he pulled up the window. His hand grasped onto the cold metal ladder now covered in blood.

The man stood on the roof looking around. He was going to be captured if he didn’t think soon. There wasn’t much on the roof beside some construction equipment. His hand wrapped around two 3 inch pipes. Running to the roof door he slid one of the pipes into the handle too keep it from being open.

Jim climbed up the ladder he was only about a minute behind the man. As he reached the top he looked up into the deep blue eyes of the man he was after. They shined like fire in the night sky, burning into Jim with his deep stare. Jim became petrified as the man sung down the 3 inch pipe across Jim’s head. The sound of Jim’s jaw breaking filled his ears. His grip around the ladder loosened as he fell down. His body fell like a bag of bricks, hitting the rails. His arm snapped, the back of his head slammed against the brick wall sending him unconscious as he fell 3 stories onto one of the metal ledges.

The man dropped the bloody pipe, looking back on the roof door he saw it being beat on. He had to get out, he ran across the roof top jumping over the small railing at the edge his feet failed in the air as he flew 25 feet crashing into the cement roof of the building next door. He felt the sharp pain in his shoulder, it had to be broken but he got up and ran.

Jim’s eyes opened his head looking up into the New York City sky; it was black beside the moon which was partly hidden behind one of the many sky scrapers. He lifted him self up, his jaw jolted with pain when he tried to move his mouth, his arm vibrated with pain. He latched onto the ladder again; it wasn’t like him to give up. He reached the roof top to see the killer’s bloody foot prints fly off the roof. His feet started to move faster as he reached the edge and jumped. Landing on his broken arm Jim tried to scream only to make more pain in his jaw.

The man ran down the stairs, his heart beating fast. He heard the roof door fly, his heart started to beat faster and louder. His steps became heavier, slower he felt his legs had been frozen in cement. Tripping to the floor his face smashing the tile knocking him out.

Jim made it to the knocked out man, he grabbed his hand cuffs and wrapped them around the man’s wrist. Not being able to speak Jim sat down on the stairs and waiting for his buddies to show up. After 5 minutes Jim could hear a stampede of people running up the stairs. In the lead was his captain, standing tall his blue uniform with hat, his white hair short. His dark brown eyes covered by his bushy white brows stared at Jim, “You crazy son of a bitch” his captain said as he shook his head. Jim tried to smile as he passed out on the stairs.

Jim woke up 24 hours later in a bright hospital room, his jaw realigned and his arm in a cast. A pretty blond nurse was toying with the equipment next to him, her eyes shift onto him, “Oh you are awake, Mr. Drank. Can I get you anything?” the nurse said in a soft sweet voice. Jim tried to talk but his mouth moved slowly, “What happen?” he asked. The nurse laid her hand on his forehead, “You where rushed in with a broken jaw and arm 24 hours ago.”

“Excuse me” came a voice from the door; it was Jim’s captain still in uniform. The nurse looked at him and walked out of the room.

“How you feeling?” asked the captain.

“Alright for being using as a human baseball for an iron pipe” Jim said sarcastically.

“You want to tell me what you where thinking, it was your first day on the street.”

“What was I thinking? I was thinking about catching the damn fucker and not letting him have another victim.”

The captain sighed, “You damn rookies always have to give me a hard time.”

“I’m sorry captain”

“It’s alright Jim, I didn’t come here to yell at you. I came to see how you where doing.”

“Thank you sir. So who I the guy the slammed me?”

“We don’t know, he won’t talk. Hasn’t said a word since we took him in.”

Jim sat up in bed and sighed. “Well at lest we have him.”

“Don’t worry Jim he will get what he deservers. Well I came only for a bit, see you back in the office in a few days.” Said the captain as he walked out of the room.

Two weeks passed, Jim sat in the quite court room. He stared into the back of the killer’s head who sat behind the table wit cuff around his hands. His blond hair slicked back and orange jumpsuit on. He remember staring into his eyes, he felt like he was staring into the devil him self. It was the only clear part of the night he could remember.

The man sat behind the table lifeless, his eyes just stared deep into space. No one knew his real name and referred to him by “this man”. His layer sat next to him nervously tapping his foot, he was terrified of this man and had to help him. The other lawyer stood in front of the court rambling on. The man’s eyes looked into his for a split second, causing the lawyer to forget his place and send a chill down his back. The man’s eyes moved towards the jury, slowly seeing each one, taking each detail, each gray hair, each wrinkle on their face, the mole on ones neck. The jury just saw his flaming blue eyes, they felt they where looking into a demon’s. Some prayed to god even though they weren’t religious.

The lawyer got back on track, “I will now present the context of the video camera found at the crime scene.” His hand shook as he hip the play button. The video started rolling on the TV, it looked like an old horror movie. The camera sat on a table in the living room, the video covered the front door, kitchen and living room. The man hid him self in the closet waiting for the victim to come home. The lawyer hit the fast forward button sending the video 25 minutes in stopping right before the victim arriving home. The front door creaked open, she was holding two large bags filled with food, her foot kicked back shutting the door. As she walked over to the kitchen the man quietly grabbed her from behind.

One hand covered her mouth as another held a switch blade under her neck lightly cutting in. The woman’s eyes bulged; she became stiff scared of what to do. The man dragged her off to the couch bending her over, pulling down the woman’s jeans showing the black thong underneath. The man bent down licking his tongue across the woman’s smooth ass as a hand kept her head smashed into the couch. His fingers reached under her thong and entered the woman’s vagina. The woman tried to fight back but was over powered, he screams faded into the couch.

The man then took out his penis and placed it into the woman and began to rape her. The lawyer placed his finger on the fast forward button again skipping the video another 10 minutes ahead. The video began playing again as the man pulled him self out. He pulled the woman’s face from the couch, her face covered in tears and snot. She started to scream as the man grabber her tongue. She bit down hard in defense but the man didn’t flitch as his switch blade ran though her tongue cutting it off. Letting go the woman dropped to the floor on all fours having blood run out of her mouth onto the floor having the carpet soak it up. The man looked down at her and grinned as he kicked her, the sound of her ribs breaking could be heard on the video. The woman rolled over onto her side as the man started to stomp on her breaking every bone in her. When he was finished her jaw was misshapen, blood oozed out of her torso, her neck sniped, joints bending the wrong way.

You could hear the whole room gag looking at the picture, but the man wasn’t finished he pulled out his switch blade. You could see the glow in his eyes as he took the blade and drove it in and out of the dead woman lying on the ground. The sound of police cars then fill the background of flesh being impaled. The lawyer then hit the stop button. The room became quite. Jim sat in the court room feeling unsay, his glaze now looking at the man. “No he wasn’t a man, he wasn’t even a killer, he was the devil himself”, Jim thought to himself.

The man’s lawyer glanced at him and stood up walking out of the court room. The man turned around at Jim and started him in the eyes. Jim started back, as a grin came to the man’s face. The judge ended the session; two court cops came to get the man picking him up. The man started into one of them lifting his hands up wrapping them around the cop’s neck. Slowly choking the cop Jim stood up running towards him. Jim’s large hands wrapped around the man’s neck, his burning blue eyes wide open, his grip on the cop faded. His life disappeared as he became lifeless in Jim’s hand, letting go the man’s body dropped to the ground. His eyes still open, wide with the flames of hell flickering in them.
