Guilty Conscience

The barrage comes forth with the
horrid screaming and shouting-
pummeling the dull, weakened
bastion of which is my mind.

Larger becomes the breach
and all will come forward.
The dark lies and deceit
will be all washed away
Leaving me with the guilt...
the pain... the agony
of the nagging conscience
engraved in my lost soul

"I could have done something..."

"B-But...Why didn't I?"

"I didn't even try..."

Both Broken and Condemned,
I face the dismal truth alone
Innocent I am not
I stand and face my cruel prison:
The feigned hell of my own
