My friend asked me to write this, and I thought it came out really good. Oh, and I don't own all the characters.
He was Prince Elocian Vladimir Americas of the Royal Household, the oldest son of King Dmitri and Queen Dawn of the Elvin Lands. He was anything everyone wanted, handsome with his blond-white hair and golden-green eyes, rich, had a wonderful brother and sister, and his parents being the King and Queen, could do just about anything he wanted.
He hated it. All his life really had to do with were meetings with other countries, royal balls, and the worst: Being courted by women that were usually older than him and extremely ugly and unintelligent.
He also didn’t want to be the king when his mother and father passed on. But if he didn’t take the position, it would be brought onto the next in line, his younger brother Jad. And if he didn’t take it, it would then be passed onto his even younger sister, Lia.
Though yet only being 800, about 12 or 13 in human years, he was nowhere near marrying age, or old enough to take the thrown yet.
But for as long as he can remember, he never even wanted to take the thrown in the first place. Always protesting to his parents about not wanting to take it, to see the world, to travel, meet new friends. But most of all learn archery.
You see, Prince’s weren’t allowed to learn archery, even though it is well known that elves are the masters of archery because of their keen eyesight and hearing. But the only weapon royalty were allowed to learn was a light sword, also known as a rapier.
Though he hated the training he had to learn, he mastered the rapier within months.
But back to the protesting. Elocian kept arguing. He rebelled against his parent’s orders. He snuck among the common folk, skipped conferences with ambassadors, royalty, and others high on the social ladder. But the worst was that he kept going to the archery grounds. He watched the master archers at work. Making their bow and their arrows. Pulling back the drawstring and letting the arrows fly through the air, and hitting the targets so many yards away.
King Dmitri and Queen Dawn were furious with his behavior. But they doused their tempers for the moment though, for their firstborn was to make his first speech to the entire public. It was a test to see if he was actually ready to take the thrown, to see how his social and speech skills were, and to give him more lessons if he showed any weak points.
The day came for Prince Elocian Vladimir Americas of the Royal Household to finally make his speech. He walked confidently out onto a balcony with a smug, almost calm, look upon his face. The speech was nothing like it was supposed to be. The following is the speech word by word.
“People of the Elvin land. You are all called here today to witness my first speech. As you all know a Prince’s first speech is a test to see what can be improved on my behalf to be a better King when I take the thrown. You all expect a speech like a promise. Something like, ‘I promise to keep your land clean, peasants off the streets’ etcetera, etcetera.
But listen to what I’m about to say, because it has absolutely nothing to do with promises about me being a better king. In fact, I don’t even want to be a king. I get no privacy, not even get privileges. Everything is planned for me, even who I wed. I probably won’t even love the person. Love needs to be learned, gained, and lost all on one’s own. I may be too young to understand it, but I know that.
Now, as royalty I have to learn the rapier, and a musical instrument. It is infuriating. Doing things I don’t want to do. I keep getting denied things that wouldn’t even harm things to the Royal Family. So I deny taking the thrown. I want my own life. I want to have my own path, my own destiny. I don’t want it laid out before me like a plan for a ball.
My parents can have their luxury’s, their life planned out for them. I don’t care about them. I’m different from all other royalty before me. I won’t stand and take this like they did. I will show you all that I am not someone that can be controlled! I will follow my own dreams to be an archer! I don’t care what my parents say! I don’t care what you all say! I’m leaving!”
And with that, he fled into the forest with nothing but the clothes on his back and a crude looking bow and dented used arrows.
And upon orders of the King and Queen, I have documented what I could about Prince Elocian.
It seems that he did leave the kingdom, far from it. He improved his magic and did become an archer like he wanted. But he left his entire kingdom to the hands of his younger brother, Jadrien.
Though, currently, Jadrien has had his sights on common women that aren’t on the royalty scale, and is willing to give the thrown to his younger sister, Liana. But Liana is protesting her arranged marriage.
