CHAPTER ONE
Grabbing an apple for a quick bite to eat she left the house, locking it up behind her. She took off down the street heading toward her school. She had to dodge many other people that were walking the streets, bumping into a few in her rush.
She slid into her class, catching the eye of many of her classmates and her friends that just stared at her like she had just risen from the dead or something. Laughing nervously, Silva looked around to see if the teacher was around, giving a small cheer that she wasn’t caught being nearly late again she walked to her desk and sat down. Only to get hit in the head back a ball of paper.
“Ow what was that for Cynthia?” she asked turning to the cherry blonde haired girl beside her. Cynthia or Cyndi as many of her friends called her just flashed her a smile, “Oh nothing just a reminder of try not to be so late” she laughed.
Silva rolled her eyes and took out her books, “Well if my mother who comes in every morning to kiss my forehead before she heads off to work and didn’t place her hand on my alarm and turn it off I wouldn’t be late now would I? Man I can’t believe she still does that I’m 17 for the love of God, why does she treat me like I’m still here little girl?” she ended up mumbling the rest to herself as her teacher walked in and did a roll call before he started that days lesson in English.
Half way through class, Silva found herself growing board and played with her pencil with one hand twirling it between her fingers as her other hand supported her head that was leaning against it. Silva was never really the one who liked to pay attention in class, she like many others found their teacher, Mr. Gal’s lessons rather boring. The only worth while thing to some students in the class was catching up on their sleep.
Silva saw that Cynthia has fallen asleep and she laughed inwardly, she had known the girl since elementary school and she had never gotten a good nights sleep since they entered high school. Mainly because of her parents divorce has hit her hard. Turning her attention to the window, Silva watched the clouds in the sky until the bell rung and she gathered her things and hurried to push her way through the crowd that was rushing to get out the door. Once she was free she walked down the hall, she walked up a flight of stairs that lead to the third floor of Walden High School.
She arrived in her next class which happened to be dance and one of her favorite subjects at that. The school board had passed, what some would call a LAW, on the course that was now assigned to many different schools in Spartan. She placed her bag near the others and sat down on a matt and ran a hand through her shoulder length red hair, that was dyed black in the front. She looked up as some students walked in, not many had signed up for this course which was fine for her. The less the merrier it was for her. Never really enjoying the big crowds.
When the teacher walked in, she stated she wanted everyone in a pair of two’s. That day they would be practising for waltz. Silva stood and walked over to a boy she knew all too well, Max Taylor, they’re families did business together ever since she could remember which meant she had known Max longer then any of her other friends.
“So why do you always choose me as your partner?” Max chuckled as her lead Silva in the waltz around the large room.
“You know full well why?”
“No why...Is it because you love me?”
“EW no”
Max laughed, “Just joking with you Silva” he said as he looked down at her. Silva sighed, “Yeah I know but you know why I dance with you. It’s because you’re the only good guy dancer in this class and my feet are to small to get stepped on” she said as she nudged her head toward a another couple of dance partners and motioned to the look of pain on the girls face and then to where the man was stepping on the girl’s feet.
Max smirked, “Well I am the heir of a wealthy business corporation” he said rather smugly; which only ended up with him being hit upside the head by his dance partner. “Don’t give me that shit, I too and the heir of my parents Law Firm but it’s not like I’m going to take it. God they’re so dense at times” Silva nearly shouted in frustration.
“Well that’s parents for you”
“Yes I guess so”
Dropping the subject right there, they finished up that days lesson and right before the bell rung they gathered their things to leave.
“Oh this coming Monday I have wonderful news to share with you” the teacher called out them as they bell rung.
When the end of the day finally came, Silva walked out of school with a tired look on her face. School was such a torture to her, that she felt like her soul was sucked right out of her very body. Thank God it was the weekend. She waved goodbye to her friends before she went on her way down the street heading toward her place.
She was walking on the pass over the river when she felt like someone was watching her. She stopped and looked around yet saw no one around her but the feeling was still there, she figured it was because of the homework her teachers had assigned her for the weekend. Shrugging she carried of her way, her ear phones in her ears and her music blaring in them as she walked softly humming to her music.
In a tree on the other side of the Pass, a figure of a man stood on a branch look at her and smirked. “I have found her my little victim” he smirked as he turned and jumped from the branch and walked in the direction of the school.
