Phantom

To your lips you hold a phantom
Such that can whisper to my ears,
Of the withered reins of chivalry,
And the latent peals of decency
That to my sight has bled countless,
Hidden mysteries taken for the truth.

To your heart you clasp a riven memory,
Such that cannot whisper to my ears
Of the strained and broken dreams of men
That, sullen, haunt the roads.

It is in clarity that I then overlook the marriage
Of your dreams clutched sharply in my hands.
At this intrusion you will not hold so high
The phantom of the seldom seen,
Engendered in your heart.
