The room was filled with as many people as it could fit. A few shouted out in anger while a few others wept openly. Still others sat looking straightforward, showing very little emotion. In the front of the room two people stood shackled to the wall. One of the prisoners was a girl and the other was a boy. The girl had long brown hair that was matted and greasy, as if it hadn’t been washed in several days. Her brown eyes were dull and feared with the fact that there was little hope of surviving this. Shoulders hunched over and head bent she began to weep for what was about to happen. She had given up. The boy, on the other hand, stood tall and unafraid of what was about to occur. His black hair was matted and on the outside he appeared defeated. But outward appearances weren’t everything. On the inside he was prepared to fight for his life. His emerald green eyes shone with defiance and anger.
A council of eight men and women walked into the room. “We will now bring this session to order. Will the charges please be read?” the Council Head asked of his council members.
Another council member stood. “Francesca Wolfe and Landon Brown, you are being charged this evening with…”
The councilman was interrupted as the doors of the room flew open. A girl with dark brown hair and ice blue eyes walked in. “What rights have you to charge them?” she asked. As she walked down the aisle towards the Council, several people shied from her. She walked like a person who got what they wanted and didn’t settle for anything less than the best. Her eyes glinted with determination. She stopped just a few feet away from the council. The whole room fell to silence as the girl waited for an answer.
“What is the meaning of this intrusion?” asked the Council Head.
“You are about to incriminate these two people just for your own personal reasons. They have done nothing wrong and yet here they stand about to be punished just because they are different from you. It has taken many centuries for the vampires, lycans, and humans to agree on anything and the issue you all finally decide to agree on is the issue of Hybrids. What you are doing isn’t fair.”
“It isn’t that they are different but that they are tampering with our great bloodlines. None of us want to mix with any of the other species. Therefore the half-breeds must be eliminated. This is the Council’s decision and we will do everything in our power to see that the sentence is carried out.”
