Cruel Puppet Show

By: Lauren

I’m sorry but

I can’t save you

Isn’t that always the case?

As much as I try,

Reaching out, fighting,

wanting

I can’t make a difference

Fate is held in your hands

Stolen by Destiny

Controlled by God

I don’t want celestial beings

to stop me

But they choke and strangle

As much as you and I reach,

Stretching out my arm

Always too far

Gasping, the cold water

Sucking down, down

Swirling into mucky nothingness

Cries torn by wind

Echoed silently

I want to save you

But I can’t reach

Powerless. Helpless.

The story of my life

A fast world, constantly moving

You go in and out of my vision

Make it stop

I need to save you

But who am I kidding?

I can barely save myself

From Fate’s cruel

puppet show
