First-Aid Kit

It's okay, 'cos it's my body

And I know exactly what to do

How to stop the blood

How to dress the wound

I have a little first-aid kit

With a red cross shining on top

It had a bag of hot-gluesticks

For mending broken hearts

It has a pack of band-aids

With pre-packaged love and care

To make up for all the kisses

That no one will place there

It has a big, white roll of gauze

With a "no-find" guarantee

The used bits can be stuffed into

A gutter on the street

Jars of honesty and sympathy

With a pestle and mortar at half price

For you to crush the contents well

And to sprinkle with pity and lies

It used to have some Vaseline

For when I cried out my eyes

And once there was a tape recorder

For when you whispered "goodbye"
