What becomes of the dreamer
When dreams fade away?
Or the child within that
Forgets how to play?
What path for life’s scholar
When there’s no more to learn?
Or for mighty fire
With no fuel to burn?
What then?
A last journey to places unknown?
But when we are empty
We make it alone
What becomes of the poet
Whose muses have flown?
When no words remain
In a heart turned to stone?
When the fire burns out
In those passionate eyes
Although she still breathes
It is then that she dies
