Frayed

She is a novel,
each page unique,
filled with fear, hope, passion
Beyond a bright red cover,
everything is clearly defined

He is a notebook,
each page the same,
waiting to be written in
Beyond that deep, blue cover,
everything is blank

The atmosphere is clean and cool,
lights dim and lonely
He takes her hands,
and they're warm,
like the words between them

Burning around the edges
It's time to let go
