EPILOGUE”

“We are gathered here today....”

How did she ever agree to this? If it were going to end up like this, she would have said no. Or yes. Depending on what she thought was good.

But she had only been able to sense evil things ever since she was about twelve. Since she didn’t know what today would bring, everything must be good.

Except the reception, where there was no one she knew. But as long as her maid of honor was there, things would seem more interesting.

Rose could remember the nice gesture Rogue had made. Giving them a new cat. Tyler had immediately called her Shawna. There was nothing Rose could do to stop him from naming her that when all the kitten wanted to do was hang around her instead of Tyler or Rogue. Shawna had only been in the house a week and she had shed a lot of fur on Rose’s pillow. But it was worth it.

Of course, everything these days seemed worth it.

Brian Johnsonne had been entered into a mental institution since he still had a weird obsession for guns, bullets, knives, and blood. The doctors there said that it would take a long while for him to be like a normal person again. The bad news was the fact that they’ll have to wipe his memory of everything he’s done and replace the bad memories with ones that would actually help the community other than harm it.

That was like telling Rose that Shawn’s death was all a joke and she was really Rogue.

Before she knew it, a handful of Skittles was thrown at her just as Tyler leaned down and kissed her lightly. Somehow her mind had been cruising on autopilot and she had said her vows without knowing she did, but she knew her heart meant them.

“Seems like the best things happen when we’re cruising on autopilot,” her mother used to say, “and our eyes never get to see them.” Then she would always shrug and walk off.

Rose had never understood what Hannah meant, but now she did.

This life of hers was pretty interesting. Being tailed down for six years, meeting Rogue, then meeting Tyler and finally catching Brian. And nothing has gone wrong since then.

She couldn’t help but wonder what Tyler was going to do about the flat tire when they were going to leave the reception, though.
