Black Curtains
Does she glance out the window
As she cries herself to sleep?
The one who's thinking of that girl
Whose heart continues to weep
Does she look at the world around her
As she tries to tune herself out?
Playing music only she can hear,
Songs of what she once dreamed about
Do her thoughts ever stop racing
To the things she's left behind?
She's secure inside her bed,
But not so safe inside her mind
Is there any way to see through
These black curtains that tint what's real?
She can't handle the emotions
That she tries desperately not to feel
Can anyone really tell her
What to do to make things okay?
There's only so many words
Before you run out of things to say
Does she glance out the window
As she cries herself to sleep?
