poison ivy

no more time for words
no more time for play
the clock is ticking, ticking
and she has no time to stay

but she can't die
she can't die
she doesn't want to die

(so she'll just have to lie.)

labyrinthine they find her, soft but like steel
she likes to bite and watch the blood congeal
her dollhouse is glittered and opens with a key
they say she's a modern delilah
but she calls herself ivy.

she tells you that she's innocent
she tells you she's a child
she tells you you're a god
but really, she just lied.

ivy's a beauty with dazzling green eyes
elusive seductress of devil's design
she invades your soul and infects your mind
ivy leaves a kiss--
and a smoking pistol
behind.

blistering to the touch, she burns in your hands
a tinkerbell-ish pixie with a penchant for lost men
she's broken like old records in a phonograph dead-end
ivy likes to play her fairytale over and over again.

she's magdalene malevolent, juliet defiled
the angel of death's aborted hatechild
give her an inch and she'll take a mile
give her your heart; she'll give back a smile

(and a bullet.)

she's a loaded pistol with little time to spare
she's a loaded pistol and she just doesn't care.

her gaze is polluted with a dying girl's pleas
black eyelashes are starpoints dipped in toxic seas
she locks up human organs and swallows up the keys
her smile is an excuse, and her soul is in me

(they say she's a modern delilah
but she calls herself ivy.)

poison(ed) ivy with the green, green eyes:
ask her no questions
and she'll give you no lies.
