Old

When I am old
I will wear purple
I’ll grow my hair long
And put it in plaits
I’ll say crazy things
And people will listen
Because I’ll be old
And supposedly wise
You get away with things
When you’re sixty or seventy
Things that you never would
Back in your teens
They figure you’re old
And entitled to coddling
They’ll humour you at least
If not revere and respect
When I am old
I will write
About being young
