he—starchwhite and rod:
diagram of planes and angles, t-square arms
akimbo and laughing, thin chest mirthwrought
in the old copper face of regret.

she—gardenia pulsepoints,
soft and waves and curves, seastrand arms
coiling around a womb emptier, purer
than seas, and as cold.

he—logic drawn in lines,
transverse, solid, sturdy,
a pole from which his ideals
fly like a flag.

she—stormchip eyes hushing
would-have-could-have, brushing
the zenith crafted of parentheses,
and those things that go unsaid.

they, together: a p a r t
and bound.
