Coercion

---

He came

to me in a dream,

I remember.

His hair made the sky

and his skin the earth

but he was not mine to keep.

He was of the world.

----------------------------

But I did entice him

with my charms and my love

tore him apart.

He was no longer of this world.

He was mine alone.

----------------------------

Though his soul could not hold still,

I tied him down in chains

of past delusions

that burrowed down into the skin,

the mark of a faded romance.

----------------------------

And though I tried

with all my might

to free him of his burden,

his soul and mine

could not see fit

the boundaries of this time.

----------------------------

And I let him go.

His skin still felt the earth,

his hair still flew the sky,

but now he took with him my heart

through all the shores of life.
