Author note: Okay, guys, this still needs some HEAVY editing, but bear with me. This is the rough rough draft of my new story and a better version may be uploaded later. Please excuse spelling errors and grammar errors (we can't all be perfect) ‘cause my beta reader is off duty right now. Other than that, enjoy.
Part 1
It was over. It was finally over. She felt ready to take on anything the world could throw at her. The therapy had helped and time had healed her wounds.
Amber stepped out of the office, never to return again. She was done with all of it. He would never bother her or any other woman again. It had taken two years to have him sentenced to jail for three counts of date rape.
As Amber started her VW Bug, she glanced in her rearview mirror at her reflection. Bright blue eyes and auburn hair. Her best friends called her beautiful. She used to believe them.
Shaking herself from her thoughts, she backed out of her parking space. A gasp escaped her lips as the car lurched back, rebounding off another car's bumper.
Her parents were going to kill her.
"Oh crap!" She blurted, staring in horror at her dented bumper and crunched tail light.
The other driver got out of his car and examined his front bumper. Finding nothing more than a small dent, he turned to her.
"You all right?"
"I'm not going to be when I get home," she muttered, running her hand over the dent in her brand new car.
"Hey, my older brother owns an auto shop. I'm sure he wouldn't mind looking it over."
She glanced at him graciously.
"I'll follow you."
He smiled and extended his hand to her.
"Isaac Brown."
She shook his hand.
"Amber Hughes."
His eyebrows shot up in astonishment.
"'Hughes' as in the millionaires?"
She nodded and rolled her eyes.
"My dad's going to murder me when he finds out. He just bought this."
Isaac whistled and took a closer look.
"Maybe he doesn't have to. I can blackmail my brother to fix this for free."
"Blackmail?"
"He owes me one."
Amber gave him a smile.
"Thanks."
"No prob. We better hurry, he goes home at six," He said, checking his watch for the time.
"Thank you so much. You saved my life," Amber said, looking at her newly repaired bumper.
"No problem, Miss Hughes. Your secret is safe with me," Chris replied.
He wiped his hands on an oil-stained rag before shaking Amber's hand.
"Can you tell Isaac thank you? He left before I could."
"I'll give you his number. I won't see him for a couple weeks."
Amber stared at the piece of paper on her desk. Her phone was stationary in her hand. Sighing, she brought up the courage to dial the number before her.
"Hello?"
"Hi, is Isaac there?"
"He just came in. Let me get him."
"Thanks..."
Amber drummed her fingers against her desktop while she waited.
"Hello?"
"Hi, it's Amber."
"Hey! Did Chris fix it up?"
"Yeah, you can't even tell."
"Great. So why'd he give you my number?"
"I wanted to tell you thank you."
"You're welcome. Hey, could you do me a favor?"
"Umh..."
"It's nothing big. I was wondering if you could suggest him to your friends? I would be eternally grateful."
"Sure. I'd be happy to."
"Thanks. I'll see you around."
"I suppose. See ya."
Amber ended the call feeling slightly confused.
'See you around?'
She grabbed her yearbook from sophomore year and turned to the index.
"Brown...Brown...Brown, Isaac. Senior."
Her finger stopped under his name. He went to her school. Sweet Jesus, he went to her school.
Please review! Thanks!
