NOTE: I lived in Canada for a period of 8 years, although I am not a Canadian citizen. At the time that I wrote this, I felt that I was part of Canada and that Canada was my home.

O Canada

O Canada,
Our home and native land,
Here we stand,
Protected by God’s hand.

Privileged to have peace,
To be protected,
To be able to walk along the beautiful shores,
And to have comfort in this great land.

To have love, joy and peace,
To be sure of ourselves,
To love and to be loved,
To know and to be known.

To respect and be respected,
To learn and to teach,
To understand and be understood,
To trust and to be trusted.

And to know that Canada is home.
