Never say to someone who's pessimistic and depressed

"You look good today in that dress"

Because they will think you meant

That without it they look horrible.

That this place sucks

Because they will agree wholeheartedly

And never let it go.

To just calm down

Because to calm down they need to strangle and hit and pinch and poke

And their victim will be you.

Never say to someone who's just recited a poem

Just how badly the words did flow

Because they just might become very cross

And inform you it was written by Robert Frost.

Never say to someone who's sick of doing work

That they're lazy and useless and don't get anything done

Because they will blow up in your face, or else just give up

And you will then be forever branded by them as a jerk.
