Snip. Snip

The scissors work easily, effortlessly

As they cut another scene from a movie.

The unwanted portion of the film floats to the ground

To make friends with the also undesired particles of dust.

It’s dark on the floor.

Not one singular beam of spotlight

Can illuminate the grace of the girl

Whose beauty is contained on this single piece of film.

Not even the editor will remember her by tomorrow.

She joins the last traces of a man who might be just like her.

If only someone had given each other the chance to see

Who the other one was and vice versa.

Maybe they, together, could have reveled in the warm sun’s rays

And forever been immortalized on the glorious big screen.

But their fifteen minutes has yet to come.

So, they must wait along with the rest of us

On the cutting room floor.
