Chapter 01

Silent drops of rain are rolling into the stormy grey eyes of a teenage boy, smudging the gothic eye-liner that was applied so carefully that morning. Long ebony tresses are dripping wet, plastered against alabaster

skin, falling into the eyes gently, mixing themselves with the thick eyelashes.

Glancing up at the crying heavens, the boy blinks into the rain, wiping the black stains off of his cheek, making a mental note as to re-apply the make-up.

‘Some things are meant to be destroyed...’

“Kai!”

The yell is echoing through the woods the teenage boy is seated.

“Kai!”

The boy rises from the muddy floor, alerting the person that is calling him about his whereabouts.

A boy with poorly-dyed crimson hair and brown eyes runs up to the teenage boy that has just risen, the rain that has fallen on his tan face dripping into his eyes.

“Kai!” He breathes ³Man, am I ever glad to have found you, everyone’s worried, yannow!”

The black haired teen just shrugs.

‘Probably not as worried as you make them sound...’

“Ne, don’t be like that, Kai!” the other whines pitifully ³You know they’re worried!”

Kai lets out a sigh and shakes his head, making the drops fall out of his long silky tresses. Turning around, Kai starts to walk into the direction the other came from, shoulders hunched, and head down.

Zack lets out a sigh before following the boy he considers to be his friend.

‘Don’t do this to me, Kai...’

Kai lets out a sigh, burying his face in his pillow. He blinks his half lidded eyes and twists his head so that now only his cheek is buried in the softness that is his pillow.

‘Why are they like this...’

“Finally! There’s the runt!”

Looking up, Kai’s grey eyes come to meet another pair of grey eyes; eyes that are slightly darker the his own.

‘Father’

“Where the hell have ya been!” the older man yells angered, the smell of alcohol lacing his breath ³Didn’t yannow we searched for ya!”

Kai moves his eyes to the floor and utters a small sound from deep within his throat, hoping his father hasn’t heard it. But no such luck.

“What was that.” the man hisses.

Kai shakes his head softly; his way of saying nothing, eyes not moving from the point they are directed at.

“Touzoh!” comes a female voice.

Letting out a soft growl, the man looks op at the woman. ³What do you want, Maya.”

The female closes her blue eyes in a sigh, and combs through her black spikes. ³Touzoh, you shouldn’t drink that much.” she says softly, but warning.

Touzoh snorts at the petit woman in front of him.

³Leave me while I talk to my son.”

Maya nods and turns away, but still utters an; “As long as it’s just talking.” before making herself scarce from the father and son.

Kai looks at the woman horrified. ‘o, don’t leave me! Don’t leave me, no! Maya come back! Maya!’

¤SLAP¤

Cradling his reddening cheek in his hand, Kai looks up at Touzoh, a horrified expression shooting past his face.

“Don’t stare at others like that.” Touzoh hisses, his breath falling across Kai’s face.

‘Vodka...’

Letting out a sigh, Kai turns around again. His cheek is still stinging, and the redness has become more and more.

“Hey, Kai. I brought you a patch of ice.” Zack says, holding the said object in his hand.

Nodding gratefully, Kai gives his friend a soft smile, before taking the patch and placing it on his cheek.

“You’re welcome.” Zack grins.

Closing his eyes, Kai lets out a sigh and lets his body curl into the fatal cat-nap position. The feeling of movement on the mattress alerts him of Zack seating himself on the bed next to him.

“Oh, Kai...” Zack mumbles, embracing his friend slightly ³what are we going to do...”

‘Nothing...’
