Jealousy

Jealousy burns like the
Sun's arrow through an ant
using a magnifying glass –
Scrutinizing your mistakes

As jealousy sears through your heart
like a bullet whizzing through the air with
Deadly precision, almost invisible
You just wish you thought of wearing
the bullet-proof vest

riding in that bullet-proof car
Tinted shades, double-layered
so that the bullets would bounce off
Repel
and the pain would never have arrived
with such aplomb you never knew

Then, Jealousy plasters onto your face
a Mask, like the one the Phantom wore to cover
his ugly face
Except that this one blinds you differently:
shows you the ugly side, obscures the
Beauty
till you doubt it was even there.

They said Never drive after Jealousy intoxication
guess what
I never listened, because jealousy made me forget
all the warnings that were slammed neon-ishly into my
face (which was plastered after all;
stupid useless warnings..)
so I drove.

Drove in the open, in that car, not in that vest
So now ridden with bullets and arrows through my heart
the size of an ant
and now I walk around like a xylem –

(in case you NEVER listened during Biology lessons)
xylem cells are hollow,
emptied of their cytoplasmic contents upon maturation
and now I'm the equivalent of a walking xylem

How special.

- I bet you're jealous of that.
