LONE WOLF'S SONG

Where does my path lie?
What do the stars say?
They say: "Fie, oh fie!
Lone wolf, weep and cry!"

And where shall I go?
What does the moon say?
She says: "Flee the dawn,
Lone wolf, leave – begone!"

And where shall I rest?
What does my heart say?
It says: "This' a harsh quest,
Lone wolf. In your breast
I ache with sorrow
Which nought can mellow.
They all exclude you
They are all untrue;
You don't have a friend
To love you to the end."

All is deathly still
My soul feels the chill;
Listen to this song
About the cruel wrong
Done to a lone wolf!

Where does my path lie?
