Good-bye, farewell

Tis the time of the sea changes

We’ve been swimming for a mighty long time my dear, but now tis the time to swim without fear

The current is ripping us apart

I try to hold on but it’s too late

You’re carried away with the others far from my grasp

You drift back again to my delight, but only to be ripped away again, right from my sight

In and out, in and out, end the teasing now

But now you’re far out by the rocks with your new sea creature friends

I can just see the top of your head, bobbing up and down

You’re happy now, I see, way over there, without me

I’m drifting to, it’s not just you

I’ve met a new friend, we think we might see this thing to the end

We bob up and down, just like you and I used to

Those were the days, when I didn’t frown

Now it’s painful, when you drift away, and painful when you drift back

But it’s safer if you stay away

You take the Pacific, I’ll take Arctic

Maybe we’ll meet again in down in the Atlantic

But for now, I think it’s best, if we just have some time apart

Let the waves carry us where we’re supposed to be, and maybe that place for you is without me

Just as long as I don’t have to feel the ache, and the stinging twinge of heart break
