"Sweet Darkness"

Sweet Darkness,
Why am I more real
When the lights are out
And the world sleeps?
Why, only then,
Does my false facade come off,
Consumed by Night's inky blackness?
All black smoke
And shadowy mirrors
Meant to deceive.
The sun is more deceptive,
Forcing its cheery, false-smile face
Into my world.
I am more me
When they sleep...
When they close their eyes,
Shut off the light
And awaken
Sweet Darkness...

Author's Note: I've been in a depressive mood of late if you couldn't tell. This is what has come of it (and this was from waiting until I was in a somewhat better mood before I wrote!)...
