What do you do when the love of your life gets in a fight with your brother? Is blood really thicker than water err.. love? That's what Julia had to find out the hard and rather painful way.

One :

Our fairytale started when my brother Max brought him over for dinner, our cousins were there too. I would always see David in the house, he was my brother's best friend after all, but just a quick hi and he barely looked up when I'd pass by.

So this night would be the first time we would sit face to face. I don't exactly know what happened but our eyes met, he smiled, I blushed. It was the first time I ever blushed with him. And the first time I ever felt my heart skip a beat. I couldn't help but smile. All throughout the meal I kept looking up to glance at him. Everytime I did he was always laughing it up with my brother. He had the cutest smile.

After dinner, all the kids went to the TV room. I was asked to watch over them. I sat on the couch beside the doorway while they played. I kept looking over to see where he was. Just then, David walked in just as Chloe, my little sister sat beside me. And he sat beside Chloe. Nice timing Chloe. I thought and kinda rolled my eyes. After awhile Chloe started to bug him. I looked over at him and gave him a smile that said "I'm sorry for the behavior of my idiotic sister." And he nodded and mouthed "It's ok." Chloe brought out her daily planner & flipped over to the page with January 29, my birthday.

"And here's Julie's birthday. See?" She pointed to the little square. He nodded.

Just then my mom called out, "Chloe, come here a minute." Chloe jumped off the couch & ran off.

I faced him and said, "I'm really sorry for Chloe. She's really annoying."

"That's ok. I have a little brother myself." He laughed and I laughed.

"So, when's your birthday?" I asked him

"January 28." He smiled and got Chloe's planner and a pen. When he placed back down on the couch it had a David's Birthday! In real graffiti looking handwriting.

We talked for about two hours. Then Max interrupted, the big jerk. So David got up and said "Let's continue this some other time, shall we?"

I giggled "Sure."

That night, when David went home already, Max barged into my room while I was writing something and said rather bluntly "So, you have the hots for David, huh?"

"No I do not!" I said like I was really offended.

"Look, you don't have to hide it from me. I have nothing against it." He shrugged.

"I don't. Really. He's just a friend."

"Sure Jools, whatever." And he closed my door. I was obviously lying though, but I hoped my brother didn't know that.

After a week, my mom says we're going out of town to some lake. The whole family and David. David? With my family?! For one weekend?! I might die. Friday came and I was packed. David was going to stay over so we could go straight to the lake in the morning. I couldn't stop smiling, the whole night.

Saturday morning came and we piled into the van at 7:00AM. Mom & dad in front, Chloe in the middle of them, Max, David then me. A five hour drive and I was sitting beside him. Yey! :D We would joke around, the three of us. The two of them usually ganging up on me. "Haha.." I would say sarcastically.

Three hours into it, Dad needed a pit stop, he needed some fuel and so did the car. And all of us wouldn't have mind for a burger or something. After getting some gas, dad went to the rest room while the three of us headed into the shop. We bought a lot of chips and soda with the money mom gave us.

After the rest of the two hours, we arrived at the lake house. It was beautiful. The two-floor house looked like an old cabin, it sat above and it looked over the lake. There was a rope swing hanging from a tree next to the house, there was also a tiny pier. It was all pretty serene and perfect.

The three of us girls were the first to enter the house while the boys brought the bags up. The inside was just as beautiful as the outside. From the door, the living room was on the left with the TV on the wall and the stairs, the little kitchen on the right and straight were the French doors leading to the veranda. The 2nd floor had three rooms and two bathrooms. Mom and Dad shared one, David and Max, Chloe and me. Obviously.

When we arrived, it was 12:30pm. We were all full from what we ate in the car so we just lazed on the pier. Chloe swam with mom supervising and kept splashing me since I just sat there with my feet dangling. Max and David meanwhile were playing with the Xbox we brought inside.

Dinner was moms and my job. We made spaghetti and garlic bread. I made the sauce and I'm pretty proud of it since it turned out pretty good. If I do say so myself. ;) After dinner, mom told me to clean the dishes. "But mom, why can't Max do it?" I said.

"Because he and David will do it tomorrow night" my mom said firmly

"How come I don't get any help?" I whined

"Because I have to give Chloe a bath." She said and walked off, Chloe in hand.

I sighed and looked at the pile of dishes in the sink and started rinsing them. While I was scrubbing, David stood beside me and grabbed a plate. "Thanks!" I said and smiled at him. He smiled back and said "No problem. My pleasure. Shall we continue our conversation?"

"Huh?" I said then I remembered what he said "Ohh.. yeah!"

So we talked. I must've scrubbed a single plate for more than five minutes because I was so into talking to him. We started at 7:45 and ended at 8:45. One hour of washing dishes but I didn't mind since he was there with me. :)

In the middle of the night, I still couldn't sleep. I wasn't even dressed for bed yet. I looked over at Chloe sleeping peacefully on her bed. I got really bored and couldn't stand the silence anymore so I went down to watch TV and maybe fix myself a snack. I opened the kitchen lights and there he was, sitting by the kitchen counter eating a bowl of cereal.

"Hey, kinda late for breakfast isn't it?" I joked

"It's never to late for breakfast." He laughed "Join me?"

"Sure." I got a bowl and spoon and grabbed a seat next to him

"So, what brings you down?"

"Couldn't sleep. You?"

"Your brothers snoring." I almost choked on my cereal.

"Haha.. I know what you mean. I shared a room with him for six years"

"I think he might have a real problem. No normal human being snores like that."

"I've been saying that for years!"

After finishing our cereal, we went outside. We sat on the pier with our feet dangling off, grazing the water with our toes. One thing led to another and I found myself swinging on the rope and then dropping into cold, cold water and watching David to the same.

"YAHOOOOOOOOO!" I heard him yell right before a big splash. He swam over to me and I splashed him good! We played around in the lake and he wound up chasing me around the house, into the house and cornering me on the veranda.

As soon as he caught up with me we both sat down, leaning on the wall. We watched the stars. Sooner or later I dozed off. I'm not sure but I think I rolled over on his arm, I got cold and I think he put his jacket on me because that's how I woke up. :) He was still sleeping and I watched him a little while.

I think I might love him.
