You think I don’t know how you see me

A bedside shadow

A notch in your post

Another badge of honor

And I know

If you saw me off the stage

My brazen posture would offend you

Disturb you

A girl so ugly shouldn’t know shit about sex

But beauty is an art

An act

And given the right costume

Any femme worth her boots could bring you to your knees

Later

When your fingers graze my skin and my disguise is in shambles on the floor

The illusion never fades

I touch too hard because I need you to know I’m there

And no body can stand this long on her own

It’s only a matter of survival

So I’ll make sure that every moment is worth what you’ll pay in regrets

I can’t afford to be ashamed and it wouldn’t pay off anyway

I already took your order

All the things burned into the underside of your mind

The inside of your skin

Everything that makes you feel dirty

Delicious

That you’d be too proud to give the one who loves you

You give me

And I know that it was perfect

Because you’ll be gone when I wake up

Back en route

And if you ever notice me, you won’t

It’s just as well, the second performance isn’t worth the makeup

And someday you’ll fall in to bed with someone for the rest of your life

Just make sure she doesn’t love you too hard

Hearts are made of softer stuff than lust

And one night

When she comes home smelling like leather and lipstick

You’ll know

I’ve only gotten better with time
