Lonely Child

There is a lonely child
Sitting out on the corner
Why don’t you go over
And see what’s the matter

Lonely child
Where is your mother?
Lonely child
Where is your father?

The lonely child
With eyes big and watery
Stares back at you
With eyes full of worry

Lonely child
Where is your mommy?
Lonely child
Where is your daddy?

This time the child replies
With tears in her eyes
She opens her mouth
With sad words to be said

“my mommy is gone
She said she can't love me anymore
My daddy is dead
With a knife sticking out of his head.”
