and this night the light is so
dim that they’re all the same
in this hallucinogenic room
where memories cross the
faint border of reality to briefly
meet hands, a mere brush of
hot skin- enough to merge dreams
with truth and i feel eyes burning
tattoos of regretlovelusthate on me
(always blue in my dreams, a thousand
people in one iris-tint) and i know that
tomorrow this may hurt but tonight i
will forget that yes naïve once again and
for now it’s enough. in the morning i will wake up,
chest burning with everything that could have
been but isn’t, a hundred glass figurines sparkling
in a heartbreak of a thousand shards (glass
menagerie broken: cry for all the animals, frail
bodies shattered on the hardwood floor). but
tonight in this room, eyes closed, they are all
indistinguishable. anonymous lips brush her neck,
and she shudders
