Erase

Erase these lines
from my hands.
My identity should be forgotten-
no soul shall seethe unruly
fingerprints
on his bristled cheek
or her warm shoulder.
Erase the
zigzags,
the spirals,
and the swirls.
The lines are strung
together only by DNA-etched deeply
like a thousand tiny scars.
Rip them-
Tear them-
Smear them-
onto someone else
and let me fade into
ghost
I long to be.
