Gone too Far
A rewrite - The helpless
Prologue
Raven had lived his life to the fullest. Being with his friends, going through school and making sure that his secrets were kept secret. Those were the only things he really worried about. When his Aunt and Uncle decided to go for a drive he only had to go to school hang with his friends after school and come home to supper. They weren’t home yet. He waited all night thinking that they were staying late to talk. He fell asleep and when he woke up, they still hadn’t come home. What was he to do? He borrowed a set of wheels being motorcycle and went down the same road his Uncle and aunt were suppose to take. That’s when he saw the break in the metal railing on the side of the highway. Not very noticeable in a speeding car. He parked and looked down. Small tress and grass had been parted and down a very steep hill lay an upside down green Car. It took him no time to get down and rip out his cell phone.
He called the hospital answered he gave his position as he landing near the bottom scraping his knees but not really caring either. They were on their way as he bent down looking inside the crushed space. They were both there his Aunt was still trying to whisper help She had her eyes closed tight. They must have been on their way back. She wasn’t hurt to badly but she couldn’t move. The seat had broken and the roof and steering will were crushing her into a to small position. His uncle and faired much worse his seatbelt must have broken, or he hadn’t had it on. He lay very awkwardly on the roof. He had no consciousness and his aunt was barely there as either. He called to both of them but neither answered. The hospital arrived cutting up the car the took them to the hospital. Raven had sat in the waiting room for hours on end. His aunt had broken several bones and turns out the movement he had seen was actually a seizure. She was dead. His Uncle was paralyzed and had broken ribs and a concussion but the difference he was alive... and in a coma.
It only took a few months before the police came and talked to him way after the accident. He couldn’t live on his own. He would have to live with his biological parents. They had given him up years ago for reasons that he had never been told. They lived happily with their daughter and he wondered weather he should refuse, he had no where else to go though. So he collected his small things. Saved all his computer information, mostly about Human and Vampire Biology, grade 12. He had been a bit smart in those subjects. He collected it all and put it into one suit case and a small knapsack. He was taken in a police car. His motorcycle taken away for lack of a licence. He wouldn’t run from his parent, they weren’t all bad they had raised, Midori, his sister alright.
When you’re a fourteen year old boy, who has to cope being in another family, getting poked at by friends and standing out in the crowd you don’t think of real life to logically. You can be a real geek in school but it won’t prepare you for the big choices in life, like what to do after a huge loss. Turning up on the father-that-didn’t-want-you’s door step isn’t the smart thing to do. Coming in and simply saying ‘Hi’ Isn’t either. They give you this weird look, like who the hell did we let raise this kid. His biological Dad had been the only one home, Lucky for Raven his Dad was a laid back guy, he didn’t much care for the past, he lived in the present, not the future. He simply took a double take and dragged him inside.
He didn’t really do much after that it was a life that you were forced to. He didn’t talk much and he could see them trying to change that. His sister was a happy girl who constantly clung to him and hugged him, she wanted to have a ‘big’ brother around all the time. He knew that she couldn’t understand his feelings, how bad it was to loose someone like that. His father was the oddest man he had ever met and frankly Raven didn’t like him. Prone to give nookies and often changed moods faster then a pregnant woman. All fo those moods more hyper then the next. He acted like a five year old. As for his mother. She rarely talked, never explained herself and expected everyone to know what she wanted.
That was also the day that Raven found out that he indeed wouldn’t be going to school, he’d either have to learn himself or be tutored in his new life. He would learn that his mother had given him up to protect him from the life she lead, she hadn’t been able to do the same for Midori. He also found he would be facing one of his own worst fears, to live in this family, he was to become a Vampire Hunter. It was the family ‘business’ if you will, and enemy number one was the Canadian, or as they saw Canada, Brombelle Royal Vampires, the Mondrain.
That was how Raven found himself here. Training to become the next generation beside his Sister. This wasn’t fun in games like a old skate park or the training of the brain in school. This was War. Vampires had been created around 2020 apparently, they had been in hiding and ever since they had come out some time near the 3rd millennium there had been these guilds. Powered by a group of men and women that had been scared of the vampires and decided to make a giant corporation of people to kill for them.
All he had left behind for his friends was Chihero’s key to the front door and a note on the table, saying he was going with his sister. That way there were no goodbyes and no one to follow him, He had got a new cell phone, a new e-mail, heck he wasn’t even registered in any phone books or records of any kind. No they wouldn’t find him, it was for the best they didn’t want to get caught up in this. He was a vampire Hunter, his life was death.
