A Child’s Prayer

People would think me naïve for my hopes and dreams,

But it’s people, who are naïve,

For not seeing it could be

People would rather harp on the bad things,

Like envy and greed, hatred and jealousy

They have to see someone die each day,

So they can know there still alive

But it shouldn’t have to be that way

---

We shouldn’t talk about a man,

Because he lives on the streets

Or teach our kids to think,

That they’re better than he

---

Society should make it ok for people to know,

That they are beautiful

But we have to see it,

With in our selves

We can’t expect somebody else to see it,

If we can’t tell

---

Foolish dreams of a teen,

Is probably what you think

But I just wish people could see,

The beauty that I see
