Stuck behind
The wall of glass
That absorbs emotion
Slips past fingers
And always falls
But never crashes.

Inside the jar
Lives the spectre
That knows
But will never tell
How much
The flushed pink roses
meant to her.

The phantom that
Senses
With feathery tendrils
Icy fingers
And speaks in riddles
And twisted words
Until the truth has been
Ripped
Torn
Dissected
Into lies.

Turned up at the party,
Glitter hair sprayed with glory
The heart-shaped pendent
Clutched in a sweaty hand.
Blinking lights
Blue purple red orange green flashing
Distorting the world.
Pushing through the crowd.
Searching.
Can't breath.

Cool night air
Smell the autumn leaves
Distant noises swishing memories.

Hush.

A glimpse
A murmur
Sounds of quiet kisses
Declarations of ever-lasting love.
Too late.
Midnight has come
And the spell is already broken.

Ripped the necklace from her
Beating heart
Left stranded on the asphalt
And retreated back
Behind the glass wall.
