The Reality of Reason

The feeling of uncertainty came swiftly in a sigh –
‘Twas something of a chuckle; it was nothing like a cry.
Unlike the times now ages past, it did not make me cry.

The truth had been back in my mind for me there to ignore.
Reality was pounding firmly on my logic’s door;
Reality is barging through, now knocking down the door.

My mind has many fantasies on which it must rely.
Reality is viewed as though ‘tis nothing but a lie.
(The life we live, the world we see: ‘tis nothing but a lie.)

I saw right through the innocence that his expression wore;
And, while his passion for the word was easy to adore,
The dogma laced through his beliefs was hopeless to adore.

No time for words unspoken and no time to say goodbye;
It only takes a simple glance into his chocolate eye,
And he will glance into the truth, his deep, dark chocolate eye.
