2 Words, 20 Minutes

The words, painted across the screen

(What I know you replied to, in the positive)

A few moments happiness switched off in seconds

(Sorry, wrong channel, it’s still a black day)

Maybe you weren’t that important, ‘cause I can’t cry tears

Maybe (my own idea of) you was never real

The problem here is, there’s no one to blame

But myself for high hopes I built to be broken

for swelled hearts I create to be crushed

for long dialogues I dreamt might be spoken

before Reaity & Reason ordered them ‘shushed’

It’s two happy people, dancing again

(It’s amazing how much you can hate

someone you don’t even know)

With their love-sick tragedy, sigh for the crowd

(Sigh from the crowd, ‘cause everyone knows whose side you should be on)

But I never had a side in the first place

(I’m just that interesting girl with the locked face)

Break hearts that weren’t there in the first place

(It’s nice to think one day I could be a close second

Nice, but like everything else I’ve built around you,

Untrue.)

Her words, painted across the screen (“Hey babe, let’s fuck”)

I saw you reply in the positive.

But no one saw me step back into these familiar shadows.

(My eyes darken, but I can’t black you out.)
