Fire, burning brighter

than the sunlight in the day.

Fire in the nighttime,

keep the dark away.

For during the hours of daylight,

fire we can still see,

but during the dark hours here

is fire, where can the sun be?

Fire warms my blood

when all else is cold.

Fire, something so misjudged;

beauty hiding beneath its folds.

Fire sways to unheard music;

keeping rhythm, keeping beat.

Fire keeps the bad things away

burning then with its heat.

Fire burns everything;

out at anything it lashes

leaving nothing but burnt broken bones

buried beneath the ashes.

They doubt me, but I swear it’s true:

the beauty fire contains,

for when all else is gone

fire will still remain.

Fire, my wonderful friendly companion,

beautiful though the damage it’s done.

I want it to stay, but then comes the water and

poof! It is gone.
